In 2024, Herbewo Herliczka-Bełdowski-Woloszyński S.A., part of the HERBEWO group, will celebrate its 100th anniversary!

The company was founded in 1924 through the merger of three previously competing companies: “Kosmos,” “Noris,” and “Polonia.”
Before the war, HERBEWO manufactured cigarette tubes and rolling papers. Located at 64 Słowackiego Avenue, the factory was managed in a very modern manner for the time. HERBEWO products were known throughout Poland. The most popular brand was Morwitan, tubes (tutki, paper form which served to prepare cigarettes). The tubes and rolling papers were exported abroad – to many countries in Europe, North and South America, and even Australia!

What distinguished the company was its state-of-the-art marketing and advertising, the highest level of production hygiene, and a very good approach to employees.

After the war, the company was nationalized, and its assets were taken over by the communist government. It wasn’t until the 1990s that a descendant of one of the founders, Andrzej Barański, managed to regain a small portion of the pre-war company. Initially, HERBEWO was engaged in trade – a HERBEWO Department Store was established on the avenues, and then the buildings were gradually converted into office space for rent.
